Lets be honest here, there's one reason why I started this blog.
That is to build SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) traffic into my website!
But why is a website blog good for SEO? To put it simply - it adds much needed content to a website to help it appear higher in Google search results!
Ok, it's a bit more complicated than that. You can't just write whatever you want and it'll magically bring more people in. It has to be relevant to your website, if you're selling cakes but writing about your favourite holiday destination it's not going to work!
Hence why I'm doing a post about SEO, it's relevant to my website and what I do. Google should then recognise that and help towards my rankings!
You also need to get your Keywords into your content to make it easier for people to find your content when using a search engine. For me, that's works like SEO, Marketing, Branding (see what I did there).
A blog is also a great way to create Backlinks in the form of External and Internal links. You'll see I've linked three External sites to help give my content authority (in other words, backing up what I've said with people that know better!). For this to work you must make sure the site your linking has a good amount of authority, which you can check with the handy free tool from Moz!
Internal links is simply linking back to your own website to make it easier for visitors to navigate back to your services. Don't forget, the reason you're doing a blog and building your SEO is to bring in more traffic so make life easy for them to work with you!
