Top 5 Marketing Basics!

Are you about to start your own business?

Here are the Top 5 Marketing Basics you need to start off on the right foot!

1. Check your brand name is available

You've spent weeks (maybe even months!) thinking of the perfect name for your company. Eureka! You've got it! But before you start doing your happy dance, you better check if it's available to register. It's really easy to do, just search the name on Companies House. If it's available, great! Get it registered now and move on to step 2.

2. Register your domain name

The brand name is officially yours! Now, you need to get your domain name registered. Having a domain name is one of the cheapest ways to make your company look professional right form the start. Have you ever seen a van with their company email address on the side, and it's domain is @gmail.com? That's not a professional first impression! There are multiple sites where you can purchase your domain name, such as; GoDaddy, Ionos or Wix (this is a good one if you plan on creating a website with them too!).

3. Create your social media channels

Now you have your domain secured, you need to set-up all of you social media channels.

It's important to make sure it's simple and consistent across each platform. For example, the handle for all of my social media channels is @brightfyrebrand - it's simple and consistent! I would highly recommend registering for EVERY social media channel you can. Why bother doing that when you're certain you won't ever use TikTok.... because at some point you may decide you do want to use TikTok and it may be that someone else has pinched your handle!

4. Get a professional logo

What's the first thing your potential customers are going to see when they're looking for you? Your logo, so if you want to give a great first impression then it needs to look great! Unfortunately, if you're not starting up your own graphic design business, you're going to need to pay a professional to do it. I myself found a fantastic artist on Fivver, which is a great site full of every type of artist you could want. It can be one of the larger expenses when starting a new company, but it'll be worth it. I promise!

5. Create your website

Now you've got your brand name and domain registered, your social channels are ready to go and you've got a shiny new logo - it's time to bring it all together in a professional website!

Thankfully, this isn't nearly as difficult as you think it is. With websites like Wordpress and Wix (the one I use!). It does, however, take time and can be a bit frustrating when you're learning how to use all of the tools.

You may find it quicker and easier to pay a professional to do it, like me! Check out my services and get in touch if you'd me to make you a website that'll put you ahead of the competition!
